about

This was one of a number of oddball concept albums by Alto Stratus. The inspiration was the weird punk sci-fi movie "Liquid Sky", although the dialogue snippets and sound effects fragments came from other sources. A kind of deliberate contradiction, and in using lots of "plunderphonics" it's a heady trip of spacey electronics, sound construction / musique concrete and weird Dada. Due to one track being used on another release since, it has been replaced by another track and more similarly themed bonus tracks at the end, resulting in an even better release than the original.

about

Alto Stratus Leicester, UK

The duo of Alan and Steve Freeman (Ultima Thule), we spent much of our spare time during the 1980's experimenting with electronics, sound collage, etc., recording some 30 odd cassettes as Alto Stratus (and other guises: Vrije, Q.S.O., Electric Junk, etc.), also as soloists, and the trio ZBB. For 30 years we've continued with a 10 further releases since, bands: Endgame, The Newt Hounds, Triax, etc. ... more
