about

This release compiled some early 1983 session recordings and all the best oddments left-over from recording the albums: Third and Transmission. A notable curiosity here is the track "Necrophobe" which is largely a montage from the solo releases of Alan & Steve.

credits

released August 15, 2020

Composed and produced by Vrije at their studio (January to June 1983).

synthesizer, keyboards, sound generator, rhythms, tape loops, found sounds, string thing, percussion.

Originally issued as the c90 cassette (Syzygy ZC 90.011) © 1983.

This reissue omits four tracks that obviously "seemed like a good idea at the time", but in reality must be some of the worst stuff we ever published. Without those tracks we end up with a pretty decent CD length release, typical experimental electronics and collage work, full of invention.

about

Alto Stratus Leicester, UK

The duo of Alan and Steve Freeman (Ultima Thule), we spent much of our spare time during the 1980's experimenting with electronics, sound collage, etc., recording some 30 odd cassettes as Alto Stratus (and other guises: Vrije, Q.S.O., Electric Junk, etc.), also as soloists, and the trio ZBB. For 30 years we've continued with a 10 further releases since, bands: Endgame, The Newt Hounds, Triax, etc. ... more
